2 N. Korea Launches Long-Range Missile
North Korea has successfully lunched a long range rocket and appears to have put "an object" into orbit. North American Aerospace Defense Command officials said U.S. missile warning systems detected and tracked the launch of a North Korean missile. The first stage appeared to fall into the Yellow Sea and the second
stage was assessed to fall into the Philippine Sea, the officials said.Initial indications are that the missile deployed an object that
appeared to achieve orbit, NORAD said. At no time was the missile or
the resultant debris a threat to North America. North Korea insists the launch of the long-range Unha-3 rocket is
simply part of a peaceful space program, but the U.S. and key Asian
allies believe it is a disguised attempt to test a long range ballistic
missile that could deliver a nuclear warhead and one day, with
development, reach the United States.

4 CNN hero of the year-2012 Nepalese women Pushpa Basnet
Nepal won two times CNN hero of the year. In 2010, Anuradha Koirala won 1st time CNN hero of the year. She is a social activist and the founder and director of Maiti Nepal and Pushpa Basnet in 2012. Pushpa Basnet, a Nepalese woman who
supports children so they don't have to live behind bars with their
incarcerated parents, was named the 2012 CNN Hero of the Year on Sunday
night.Nepal is one of the
poorest countries, and space is very limited in the few group homes
affiliated with the government. So when a parent is incarcerated and no
other guardian can be found, children have little choice but to live in
prison as well. She started a home in kathmandu where children can receive education, food, medical care and a chance
to live a more normal life. She also runs a day care program for
children who are too young to be separated from their parent.
"These children have done
nothing wrong. They are simply caught in something they do not
understand," Basnet said during "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute," which
took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and honored her and
the other top 10 CNN Heroes of 2012. "We want to work with the
government to bring them all out from of prison. And they deserve a
better future."

6 The end of the world (Dec. 21)
Its just a rumor that the myth that the world will end in December 2012 started with claims
that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is heading
toward Earth. Zecharia Sitchin, who writes fiction about the ancient
Mesopotamian civilization of Sumer, claimed in several books (e.g., The
Twelfth Planet,
The Stairway to Heaven,
The End of Days)
that he has found and translated Sumerian documents that identify a
planet — Nibiru — orbiting the Sun every 3,600 years. Sitchin's Sumerian
fables include stories of astronauts visiting Earth from an alien
civilization called the Anunnaki. However,Scientists said rumors on social media and the Internet of Earth's
premature demise had been prompted by a misunderstanding of the ancient
Mayan calendar, which runs through Dec. 21, 2012. "It's just the
end of the cycle and the beginning of the new one. It's just like on
Dec. 31, our calendar comes to an end, but a new calendar for the next
year begins on Jan. 1
