Real Madrid shared the points with Espanyol. During the second half, Real Madrid defender Coentrao doubled at 48 minutes but Espanyol again equalised at 84 minutes by Angel Albin. Real Madrid is currently in the third placed of table behind the top Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and was need to pick up three points at home ground against lowly Espanyol. From this draw, Real Madrid is behind from Barcelona by 13 points and due to this lag Real Madrid focused on Championship league more than BBVA La Liga.
